Modern bloging has started as online diaries. Creators of these diaries called themselves diarists, journalists or journaler used to share personal experiences and happenings with their readers as text, images or video. First blogs were just part of a web site.
The world blog comes from weblog which was created by Jorn Barger on 17 December 1997 and became the short form blog after Peter Merholz, as a joke, broke the word weblog into two different words: we blog on his blog in April or May 1999. Not longer afterwards, blog was accepted as a verb and a noun and the term blogger also appeared/
Today, each blog concentrates mainly around one theme or it is still kept its diaty purpose. Many bloggers use their blogs to tell other about their day and what significant has happened in that day. For example, one may post on one’s blog a piece of news that was impressive or a funny video seen on YouTube. Other bloggers or simple visitors may respond to the initial post and a conversation is launched on a certain theme.
Moreover, people may want to start a blog when they decide to try to achieve something. For example, somebody wanting to lose weight will start a blog and will keep the readers posted with his or her progress. In this case, the blog can be used to note down changes in the diet and exercises done everyday. A blog is a great way to seek for support as there are many people who enjoy blogging. There are such blogs that have become famous and then they were transformed into web sites and forums.
Furthermore, one may want to launch one’s blog to share one’s creations. Blogs that contain poems, short stories or even novel are quite accessed. This kind of modern journalism offer the blogger the change to make known his creations and the readers to be able to read literature for free. What is more, having the chance to talk to the author of the book you read is something quite cool even though this is no big personality.
As we are talking about personalities, there are a lot of public people that have started a blog. They use it to communicate with their fans, to post news about their career and personal live and this is a source where fans can get some information instead of believing all that paparazzi say.
A more lucrative reason to start a blog is to make money. You can do this by posting different advertisements on their blogs. However, to make a profit they need to keep their posts interesting enough so that people continue accessing it. Many people find this an enjoyable way making money, although in most cases, revenues are not big at all.
Blogging has become an activity more and more performed and the purposes of blogging have spread. However, most of the bloggers have adapted the online journal style for their blog. Maybe some day, blog content of important people will be studied in schools just like the journals of those from the past.
